How You Should Start Every Holiday

10 September 2019

This post is in partnership with Escape Lounges, who kindly gifted me entry to their lounge at Stansted Airport.

At the start of August, I embarked on a 5 day trip to Cyprus. It was my first time visiting the island, and certainly not the last (I’m putting together a guide of all the spots to go to if you’re visiting Cyprus for the first time). Another thing I experienced for the first time was going to pre-flight Airport Lounge.

I’m usually the type of person that will get to the airport 1.5 to 2 hours before the flight, and by the time I’ve checked in and had a look around duty free (and in most cases, bought a lot from duty free), it’s time to board the flight. This time, I wanted to enjoy my time at the Airport and did so with the help of Escape Lounges.

The first thing I loved about the lounge was that it was slightly distanced (but not too far) from all the hustle and bustle of the Airport Terminal. As I was flying in the peak of the summer holidays, this was definitely appreciated.

Upon entry to the lounge, you could’ve mistaken us for celebrities - we were escorted to our table and given the briefing of what the lounge has to offer.

So, what does it have to offer?
Unlimited Food & Drinks with Prosecco on tap (and Champagne for an additional charge). Given my flight was at 9am, and we were in the lounge at around 7am, I said no to the Prosecco & stuck to the Orange Juice and Bacon Rolls. There is also WiFi, printing, scanning, charging points, newspapers & magazine galore to fulfil all your pre-flight entertainment needs.

Another thing I love about the lounge is that there are no tannoy announcements. And I’m sure we can all agree that tannoy announcements can be very annoying and even cause anxiety for some passengers. Sitting in the Escape Lounge and relaxing before my flight really did give me the opportunity to escape and unwind.

No more rushing to and through the Airport. I have now been converted into a Airport Lounge fan and will undoubtedly be returning to the Escape Lounges at Stansted every time I fly. Or to the Manchester & East Midlands Escape Lounges if I fly from those airports.

A massive thanks to Escape Lounges for getting my holiday off to the right start.
