Inspiring Women into sport with Jack Wills.

15 March 2018

Serena Williams. Paula Radcliffe. Nicola Adams. Simone Biles. Laura Trott. Jessica Ennis. 6 women who have broken many stereotypes when it comes to sports. Whilst an increase in women’s participation and women's sport media coverage have been crucial steps to inspiring young girls into sport, there’s still a long way to go to erase the stigma facing women in sports. As Issues like 'Gymtimindation', —a newly coined term for a confidence dip whilst in the gym environment are experienced by women everyday.

Unlike our male counterparts, girls wanting to participate in sport have been weighed down by unnecessary socially constructed gender boundaries and uncomfortable clothes. Nowadays (thankfully) modern athleisurewear for women has been developed with the latest technology and functionality, in a range of colours and styles to allow women to show their personality whilst participating in sport. The evolution of athleisurewear by companies such as Jack Wills combining quintessetially British fashion and fitness are playing a part in slowly demolishing this stigma. The lack of decent women's joggers and gym sweats is no more.

Okay, so we're not all going to be Olympic standard athletes. But if you're wanting to get into sport whether it's on a local level or going to the gym twice a week - here are a couple of my favoruite performance enhancing,stylish and comfortable athleisurewear picks;

The Lingham joggers. Only £42.95 to be super snug if you're facing a full day of lectures, a netball practice or outdoor run.

The Winslow tee. Made from sustainable fabric this lightweight shirt is perfect for letting your skin breathe whilst working out.

The Blankney crop hoody. Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the Cobalt blue colour of this.

The Erwin women's joggers. Bang out a workout then relax in these cute culotte style joggers.
....And most of these items currently have £££ off.

The increasing number of women in sport are role models making sport aspirational and exciting for many young girls. There are so many exciting opportunities for women in sport and the timing of the modern take on athleisurewear and sportswear by companies such as Jack Wills could not be more appropriate.
